Culture and Festivals in Spain: The European Balloon Festival

Our students at the Erasmus Creativity Club in Vallbona d’Anoia, Spain, became cultural reporters in the summer. Thus, they made a selection of summer celebrations and festivals, took photographs and made videos.

One of the most popular summer celebrations is the European Balloon Festival in Igualada – the biggest town closer to Vallbona d’Anoia, which is the capital of our county, that is Anoia. The festival is held yearly since 1997, lasts 4 days and may gather about 60 air balloon pilots from all over the world.

The 20th edition of the festival was celebrated from 6th July to 10th July 2017. It included a hot air balloon competition and spectacular exhibitions accompanied with fireworks and night glow. The flights took place early in the morning, at 7.30 am and in the evening, at 8 pm. There were thousands of visitors who could have flown on a balloon if they had booked it in advance.

Our students love the festival and have immortalised it in their photographs and videos which you can see below. The best photographs have been taken by Gil Ricart and Gerard Lozano, and the video has been created by Gerard Lozano. We hope you like them so much that you decide to come and visit us next July. You will be more than welcome.
